Welcome John Jackson- QC Engineer
CAR is pleased to announce the newest member of its management team, QC Engineer John Jackson. John comes to CAR with over 22 years of experience in the manufacturing industry and machine shop environment. He started his career as a CNC machine operator and worked his way up to master CNC programmer, and then into management. While working on 3rd shift at his former employer, he was responsible for all aspects of the mill department including performing all the QC checks on parts. It is there that he got his first exposure to what it takes to ensure parts are to print. What makes John such a valuable addition to the CAR team is his prior machining background. He is easily able to identify critical dimensions on prints and can offer real solutions to the machinists on best practices when working on and then verifying tight tolerance parts. A real “team player” John has been a great addition to the team. John works side by side with QC Manager David Vincent. To read John’s complete bio please “click here”
Annual CAR Company Picnic…Rain or Shine
Based on the success of last year’s clam bake, employees voted to do a repeat of last year. The location was again at Powder Mills Park, the food was the same- clam bake with lots of other great picnic food. We had a bounce house, bocce tournament, raffle, arts and crafts for the kids, and Lugia’s Ice Cream truck. The only thing that was different from last year was the weather. Compared to last year’s picture perfect weather this year was rainy and cold most of the day.
The bocce tournament had to be canceled and the kids had to bounce in the rain but it was still a great time. Employees mainly hung out in the lodge where there were board games, Jenga, and other activities set up. The goal of any picnic is employee appreciation and a chance to meet co-workers’ family and friends. Congratulations to Tammy Schutt (wife of CNC machinist Dave Schutt) for winning the grand prize in the raffle- $100 gift card. We are also pleased to report that there was no left over beer, and minimal left over clams.
As for the picnic next year plans are in the works for something big as Sept. 2016 will be CAR Engineering’s 30th year in business…stay tuned.
Best 10 Years of His Life…Congratulations Kam Blocker
Congratulations to Shipping and Receiving Manager Kam Blocker for completing 10 years of service at CAR Engineering. Kam started in shipping back in Sept. 2005 and has been critical to the success of the company. Getting parts out on-time with perfect quality is the hallmark of any good machine shop. Because we are so diverse in our customer base, there are a lot of different requirements and special instructions when it comes to shipping. We not only ship within the USA but to many countries outside the US. Kam is committed to making sure these packages arrive safe and sound and in perfect condition. Our sales last year were $9.4 million and each item left our dock in Victor, NY under Kam’s supervision. He does an excellent job running this department especially since it is staffed with Kam and one other full time shipping employee, Eric. Per company tradition each employee that completes 10 years of service receives a lovely mantel clock. Thank you Kam for your dedication and years of service to CAR.
Welcome to the World Hannah Elizabeth Weirich
Wait a CAR Engineering employee had a baby? Another girl? That’s right! Loyal newsletter readers know that at CAR we love announcing the birth of new babies and most of the time they are girls! Jerame Weirich, who works in our stampings department setting up our multi-slides, and his wife Beth are the proud parents to baby girl Hannah Elizabeth Weirich.
Hannah was born on Aug. 3rd at 12:27pm at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. She weighed 7 lbs 15 oz. and measured 20 inches long. She is the first child for Jerame and Beth. The couple both loved the name Hannah and chose the middle name “Elizabeth” for Jerame’s wife Beth whose given name is Elizabeth. Jerame enjoyed a 2 week paternity leave but is back to work. Both baby and mother are healthy and happy. Congratulations to the Weirich family!
