Charles A. Rogers: CEO/Founder
Charlie has accumulated over 40 years manufacturing experience. He founded CAR Engineering and Manufacturing in 1986 after working for 17 years with his father, Arthur Rogers, at Rogers Associates in Rochester, NY. Charlie progressed to the presidency of Rogers before spinning away to form his own company. He is fully vested in all aspects of CAR Engineering but centers his daily activities on sales, marketing, and customer service.
Charlie is a past president of the Rochester Tooling and Machining Association (RTMA) and remains an active member today. After graduation from Pittsford Sutherland High School in 1969, Charlie completed the New York State Tool & Die Apprenticeship Journeyman Program in 1972. He has also successfully attended a multitude of additional engineering and business courses at Rochester Institute of Technology.
William Blakely: CNC Project Manager
Bill came to CAR with over 23 years of machining and manufacturing experience. He began his career at Superior Technologies where he started as a machine operator and worked his way up to Process Engineer supporting all aspects of primary and secondary operations within the mill department. After 8 years at Superior, Bill went to ET Precision Optics. During his 15 year stint at ET Precision Optics Bill held the roles of Mill Dept. Supervisor, Manufacturing Manager, Process Engineer Manager, and Operations Manager. In addition to his extensive on the job experience Bill also holds an AAS in Manufacturing Technology from Monroe Community College.
Bill’s job duties at CAR is overseeing our CNC Department. This includes quoting and estimating, project management, technical liaison with our customers, developing optimum utilization of our equipment and applying best in class machining principles.
Milton Cummings: Designer/Project Manager
Milt is a journeyman tool and diemaker who joined Car Engineering in 1987. In 1989, as our customer base grew, Milt was promoted to tool designer, where he was able to put his toolroom experience to use in designing new stamping tooling. Milt not only designs tooling, but is also responsible for quoting tooling costs, production pricing and managing workflow in the stampings department. Milt served his NYS Tool and Diemaker apprenticeship at Frenz & Kellogg Tool and Die from 1979 – 1982, and also worked at Martec Tool & Die and Exact Tool and Die before joining CAR Engineering.
Todd Guarino: Die Designer/Tool Room Supervisor
Todd started at CAR in June of 2006 as a Tool and Die Maker in our tool room. After 3 years Todd was promoted to Tool Room Supervisor. In May of 2011 an opportunity to assist in the office was made available and Todd was promoted once again. Todd still oversees the staff as Tool Room Supervisor, which includes the building and servicing of all the progressive and compound dies. In addition to Tool Room Supervisor Todd spends about half his time working under Milt Cummings in design and engineering. Todd works on new stampings quotations, design of new dies, improving our existing dies, and leaning out operations.
Todd became a journeyman tool and die maker in 1993 after serving his four year apprenticeship at Hilton Tool and Die. Todd stayed on at Hilton as a Tool and Die Maker until coming over to CAR in 2006. While working at Hilton, Todd completed his associates’ degree in Mechanical Technology from Monroe Community College.
Carrie Hause: Scheduler
As Master Scheduler, Carrie’s focus is getting parts out the door, on-time with perfect quality. She receives in orders from our customers, schedules the work, and handles the material procurement and outsourcing all the while providing excellent customer service.
In addition to her stampings responsibilities, Carrie also oversees: ISO 9001: 2008 administrator, receiving, payroll, commercial invoicing, vendor relations, purchase order management, purchasing of all consumable goods, customer relations, and safety.
Carrie worked as a department assistant for 3 years at a hospital in Vermont before returning to her hometown and applying at CAR. She holds an associates degree in Liberal Arts from Finger Lakes Community College.
Cheryl Hixon: Office Manager
Cheryl started her career at CAR as a part-time administrative assistant. She quickly proved herself to be an invaluable asset and after one year was promoted to CAR’s full time office manager. Cheryl’s duties are too numerous to list but include- customer service, accounting, receiving, invoicing, quoting, database management, and general office duties such as phones and filing.
Prior to starting at CAR Cheryl worked for 8 years as a parish secretary at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She held a similar position as she does at CAR- working in the office handling all aspects of running an office day to day. Since entering the workforce in 1985 Cheryl has held various full and part time office positions while juggling family life- husband and three boys. Cheryl also attended Finger Lakes Community College where she took classes in computer science.
John Jackson: QC Engineer
John started at CAR in summer of 2015 with over 22 years of prior manufacturing experience. His duties as QC Engineer include: creating and verifying effectiveness of in-process, final, and 1st piece inspection procedures for all parts at CAR, programming and using our CMM and SmartScope inspection equipment, ISO/TS internal auditor, PPAPs, and documenting and responding to all internal and external corrective actions. John works side by side with QC Manager Dave Vincent.
Prior to coming to CAR Engineering John worked at ET Precision Optics for ten years. John held many roles at ET and was responsible for all aspects of quality while working on 3rd shift. A lifelong learner, John has taken many classes and holds certificates in a variety of disciplines including: Mastercam X8 and X7 programming, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance, general business classes, and computer systems. A highly skilled machinist and programmer John is ideal in the QC Engineer role as he is able to apply his knowledge of machining and measurement techniques to all aspects of his job.
Yvette Rogers Pagano: President
Yvette joined CAR in 2006 and is thrilled to be part of the second generation working within the family business. Yvette went to Penn State University for her undergraduate studies and majored in Marketing and International Business. Upon graduation from PSU, Yvette was recruited by Ford Motor Company and worked in the Sales, Marketing, and Service Division in San Francisco, CA. She spent five years with Ford serving as a liaison between Ford and dealerships in Northern CA.
Yvette left Ford in 2003 to pursue an MBA from Pepperdine University. During her two year MBA program, Yvette studied for a semester in Hong Kong. She graduated in 2005 and worked in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles for one year.
As President, Yvette oversees the strategic direction of the company, dealing with everything from the financials, marketing/sales, employee relations, internal operations, ISO 9001:2008, and Lean.
Brian Rumsey: VP Operations
As his title indicates, Brian is responsible for the overall operations of CAR. One of his primary duties is that of Controller in which responsible for all accounting functions, cash flow management, and business operations. He also takes on material ordering and procurement.
Brian holds a bachelors of Business Administration from Saint Bonaventure University where is majored in finance, and minored in accounting. He prides himself on improving efficiencies, developing programs, streamlining processes, and being a team player. Since being hired in Jan. of 2009, Brian has risen fast through the ranks of management and is a key member of the team.
David K. Vincent: Quality Manager
Dave holds the honor of most tenured employee. He joined Charlie six months after the company was founded and achieved 20 years of service in June 2007. Prior to joining CAR, Dave worked at a cast iron and stainless steel foundry in Rochester in quality control.
Dave started out at CAR doing both shipping and receiving as well as quality inspections. After about 3 years, the company had grown enough to necessitate a fully time quality manager and Dave was promoted. Dave is responsible for ensuring we ship quality parts to all our customers. He inspects the material when it arrives, does a complete 1st piece inspection when a new part is run off, maintains the inspection documents for our ISO: 9001:2001 certification, does PPAPs, and signs off on final inspections.
