CAR Engineering is now TS 16949 Certified

Hello loyal newsletter readers and welcome to our 1st publication of the CAR newsletter in 2015. We are pleased and proud to announce that we are now TS 16949 certified. We have been ISO 9001:2008 certified since 2006 but wished to add a higher level of certification for our automotive customers. CAR has been servicing customers in the automotive sector for over 20 years. We knew that we were close to being TS “compliant” so we rolled up our sleeves took it to the certification level. To learn more about TS certification and what is involved, please click here.

Our TS 16949 audit along with our annual ISO renewal took place in Nov. 2014. We were approved for certification pending the closure of a few minor non-conformances. Those were submitted and accepted before the holidays and our new certificate arrived in Jan. 2015. It is available on our website for download and you are also welcome to contact our quality department or Yvette Pagano if you need a copy. CAR would like to thank Carrie Hause (scheduling) and James Wagner (QC Engineer) for their efforts with this certification. Both Carrie and Jim attended outside training to become certified TS internal auditors and both individuals put forth great effort to ensure that CAR was complying with all TS 16949 standards.

Fare Thee Well – Roger Cornell

Long time CNC lathe programmer and set-up man Roger Cornell retired from CAR Engineering Dec. 31st 2014. Roger started at CAR in 2000 after the owner, Charlie Rogers, purchased a local manufacturing company. The lathes Roger ran along with Roger himself came from that acquisition.

Hard working, great quality, and smart are the words that best describe Roger. An early bird, Roger started his day at CAR at 5 am. Roger had his own little corner of the shop where his small lathes are located. From a gravestone around Halloween to Christmas lights in Dec. he always added a little flair to his work space.

Roger announced his retirement 6 months in advance so during that time we had one of our up and coming apprentices shadow him. Although we miss him we are happy to report that Mike has been able to keep up with the work load. Roger is also available to CAR as a consultant and remains a dedicated resource to CAR Engineering.

Not one to sit around Roger has already picked up a part-time job as an inspector at a shop 5 minutes from his house. When not working Roger is enjoying his time off with his wife, Deborah, and his adult sons.
