Message From Yvette Pagano:
Welcome loyal newsletter readers to the Q2 2017 edition of the CAR newsletter. I have missed a few quarters of publications but happy to say that we have lots of great updates. Thanks in advance for taking a look and your continued interest in CAR Engineering and Manufacturing.
CAR Launches Company Video 2.0
CAR was very pleased with our original company video which was shot back in 2013. It featured then CEO/Owner Charlie Rogers and President Yvette Pagano. However times have changed. Yvette is now owner and CEO, while Brian is the President and a minority owner. The other big news is that CAR is now WBENC certified (certified woman owned business) and that needed to be conveyed in the new video as well. So with no further delay –please click here to view our new informational company video. For those of you missing the original video don’t worry- it is still active on CAR’s You Tube Channel.
CAR Participates in Monroe Community College High Tech Exploration Night
CAR Engineering was pleased to participate once again in our local community college- Monroe Community College- High Tech Exploration Night. The goal of the night is to educate high school and middle school students, along with their parents on the excellent careers available in the skilled trades. MCC had over 600 students, parents, educators, and employers attend the program that night. Those attending the event could take tours of MCC’s facilities, learn about their degree programs in precision machining, optics, and HVAC, as well as speak to companies needing those skills. CAR was there to represent employers in Rochester, explain what it takes to enter the field of precision machining, the types of jobs we are sourcing, and some of the products we manufacture. Shout out to CNC Engineer, Bill Blakely, and QC Engineer, John Jackson for manning the CAR booth this year.
Congrats To New Mama Jenna Hildebrandt
CAR is delighted to announce the birth of Austin Peter Hildebrandt. Austin was born 3 weeks early, arriving on Dec. 09 2016. His parents are CAR’s Administrative Assistant- Jenna and her husband Scott. Loyal readers may recall stories featuring Jenna’s wedding and birth announcement. Despite his early arrival he was a big boy- weighting 8 lbs. and measuring 20 inches long. Jenna took a 10 week maternity leave but is now back at CAR working Tues-Friday. While Jenna is at work, Austin spends his time with Jenna’s sister and loves going to Aunt Val’s place. Due to Yvette’s writer’s block Austin isn’t a newborn anymore- check out his cute 4 month photo below. Welcome Austin!!!
Beer Anyone?
Loyal newsletter readers may also recall former longtime employee, friend of the company, and sister of the CEO- Al Rogers and his venture Rogers Beer. Al left CAR in 2012 to purse a sales career with Bodycote Thermal processing. Al is still with Bodycote and please contact him directly for all your heat treating needs.
Al is also passionate about beer and started his own craft brewing company, named Rogers Beer. With family obligations as well as his demanding job at Bodycote Al was looking to divest from the beer business. Luckily he met up with brothers John and Marc Marcello and Jay Beaumont who own- the Smokin Eagle in Leroy and 58 Main in Brockport. Rogers Beer was one of the featured beers at 58 Main. The brothers, Jay, and Al formed a partnership where they all co-own Rogers Beer. Al’s main focus will be to create new recipes and be the master brewer. Rogers Beer continues to be for sale at 11 local Wegmans Grocery Stores as well as at fine bars in the Rochester area. To read the complete article click here.
Further Evidence That Skilled Trades Are In High Demand
Finally I wanted to share this article on the need for skilled workers and the topic of “middle skills”. This relates nicely to what CAR is trying to accomplish by participating in the MCC High Tech Exploration Night. Furthermore it supports CAR’s continued involvement in FAME (Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturing Enterprise) which focuses on retaining and attracting the youth into the skilled trades. CAR is also a proud participant in the NYS apprenticeship program (listed as Charles A Rogers Enterprises Inc.) and have been training apprentices into journeyman tool and die makers and CNC machinists since our founding in 1986. Check out the article here. For those of you reading this with high school students please remember that CAR is always tour ready and happy to speak to or give tours to anyone interested in learning more about a career in advanced manufacturing.
