CAR Engineering first achieved ISO 9001 stamping certification in 2006 and became a certified ISO 9001 Stamper. The standard has been revised and CAR is certified to the most current standard of ISO which is ISO 9001:2015. ISO certification is an internationally recognized Quality Management System which has helped CAR improve our management processes to compete not only locally but on a global scale.
Update: CAR Engineering was again approved as a certified ISO metal stamper in 2018.
As an ISO certified organization, CAR has implemented Quality Management System requirements for all areas of our business including: manufacturing processes such as CNC machining and metal stamping, facilities, people, training, and equipment. By achieving the ISO 9001 metal stamping certification CAR Engineering has demonstrated that it can meet the regulatory requirements and apply the system effectively to be of real benefit to our customers.
The benefit CAR has received since starting with ISO 9001 has been a more efficient Quality Management System that saves us time and cost, improving efficiency and customer relationships. ISO 9001 provides senior management with an efficient management process. It sets out areas of responsibility across the organization. It tracks key metrics such as “on-time delivery” and “cost of poor quality”. These metrics allow for continuous assessment and improvement.
The ISO 9001 audit is conducted annually by an outside independent registrar who must be internationally accredited. Every three years a complete and total ISO 9001 audit takes place. In the interim years the independent auditor does a maintenance ISO 9001 audit. During a maintenance audit only select areas of the company are audited but this is random and management does not know which department and processes will be subject to audit.
