Yvette Rogers Pagano Featured as “Woman To Watch”

CAR Exhibits at Monroe Community College High Tech Exploration Night
If you read the article above you know that getting high school students excited about a career in machining is a passion for CAR Engineering. When Bob Lasch, who runs the career and technical services over at our local community college, asked CAR Engineering if we wanted to participate in the High Tech Exploration Night, we confirmed immediately. The event, which took place on the MCC campus, had over 500 students, parents, and educators. The goal of the event was to showcase local businesses in precision machining, engineering, and optics- all seeking to hire and retain top talent. Many of these good paying jobs do not require a 4 year degree. MCC offers multiple certificate and 2 year training programs which are the perfect foundation to start in an apprenticeship at a place like CAR Engineering. CAR employees William Blakley and Todd Guarnio manned CAR’s booth. Bill represented CNC machining while Todd educated high school students and their parents on opportunities in tool and die making and stampings. To see more photos from the event click here.

CAR Participates In Flower City Habitat for Humanity Leaders Build
When friend of the company and President of UTC Retail, Sam Villanti, asked Yvette if she would participate in the Flower City Habitat for Humanity Leaders Build week, she accepted immediately. Yvette had some interaction with Habitat when she worked for Ford in San Francisco but this was her first experience in the Rochester Area.
The entire organization was very impressive. Their motto- “a hand up not a hand out” rang true. Partner families work towards their housing goals by contributing sweat-equity hours and paying a no-profit mortgage or loan. This mortgage or loan contributes back to the Fund for Humanity, helping to financially support the building of additional Flower City Habitat houses or NR programs. The particular area in Rochester that Yvette volunteered in was part of an entire neighborhood revitalization act, the street had many habitat homes and more in development.
It was hard work and a hot day but well worth it. Yvette specifically focused on hanging siding on the outside of one of the houses. CAR encourages all companies and individuals to get involved with this fantastic organization. For photos from the event- click here.

Dennis Frey Retires
Night shift lathe machinist Dennis Frey retired from CAR Engineering in March. Dennis came to us when a local shop was closing down and we were very lucky he did. Dennis was a real asset to our night crew and kept our vital turning department humming on the B-shift. A super nice man, he was always willing to train and help along the younger staff in the trade. Dennis and his wife fulfilled their retirement dream by purchasing a motor home and will be enjoying this great country. We will miss you Dennis, thank you for your years of service.
